1、 Storage management
- Store in a sealed and dark place, with a recommended ambient temperature of 5-30 ℃, avoiding direct sunlight, high temperatures, and freezing; Long term exposure is strictly prohibited to prevent solvent evaporation, aluminum powder oxidation, and slurry crust formation.
- Keep away from open flames and heat sources, which belong to flammable liquid systems. The warehouse should be equipped with ventilation and fire-fighting facilities, and should not be mixed with strong oxidants.
During storage, aluminum powder may settle, which is a normal phenomenon. Before use, it must be thoroughly stirred at low speed and not sheared at high speed to avoid aluminum sheet breakage and decreased metallic luster. - The shelf life shall be executed according to the product specifications, and should be used up as soon as possible after opening to prevent moisture and deterioration.
2、 Paint mixing/slurry preparation operation - Immersion aluminum paste is pre coated with aluminum powder and cannot be directly mixed with water system. It is only suitable for corresponding solvent based resins (immersion system, phenolic/epoxy, etc.). First, conduct a small compatibility test to confirm no coagulation, blackening, or particles before mass production.
- Feeding sequence: resin+solvent premix → slowly add aluminum slurry under low-speed stirring, do not rush the resin into the aluminum slurry to prevent aluminum flakes from breaking.
- Control the stirring speed to avoid long-term high-speed dispersion. Once the aluminum sheet is broken, the covering power and metal effect will significantly deteriorate.
- If dilution is required, use the recommended matching solvent for the product. Do not add unknown solvents at will to prevent aluminum powder corrosion and gas expansion.
3、 Construction and dipping process - Clean the surface of the substrate: free of oil stains, dust, and moisture, otherwise it will affect adhesion and cause pinholes, bubbles, and powder loss.
- Glue immersion viscosity control: Adjust the viscosity according to the workpiece immersion speed and film thickness requirements. The amount of aluminum paste added should be within the recommended range. If it is too high, it is prone to settling and sagging; Insufficient low coverage.
- Maintenance of immersion tank: Regularly filter the tank solution to remove impurities and aluminum powder agglomerated particles; Seal the tank during long-term shutdown to reduce solvent evaporation and aluminum powder oxidation.
- The curing conditions strictly follow the process parameters. Excessive temperature can cause blistering of the paint film and darkening of the aluminum powder; Insufficient curing due to low temperature, resulting in decreased weather and chemical resistance.
4、 Security protection - Keep the work environment ventilated, wear solvent resistant gloves, goggles, and gas masks to avoid direct skin contact and inhalation of volatile vapors.
- It is strictly prohibited to come into contact with the skin and eyes. Once in contact, rinse with plenty of water; If it splashes into the eyes, rinse with water continuously and seek medical attention promptly.
- Waste liquid and slurry cannot be dumped at will, and should be collected and treated according to hazardous waste regulations.
5、 Common problem avoidance
-Blackening appears: mostly due to corrosion of aluminum powder. Check if the solvent contains water and if the system pH is too high.
-Granular lumps: Insufficient mixing, sedimentation and agglomeration during storage, or impurities mixed in.
-Poor luster: Excessive mixing and shearing caused the aluminum sheet to be broken.
-Rapid settlement: The viscosity of the system is insufficient, and suitable anti settling agents can be used. First, conduct small-scale experiments to confirm.
